  • 140

If your certificate is expired, or you have a self signed certificate, you can follow these steps to change over your SSL certificate and run cPanels free AutoSSL certificate to secure your site.

Note: cPanels AutoSSL certificate can only be applied to any domains that are pointed towards the cPanel hosting service either via nameservers or an A record.

If you do not want to use cPanels autoSSL and you wish to use your own SSL certificate, you can follow this guide on how to install your own SSL.

First you will need to log into your cPanel service.

Once logged into your cPanel follow these steps:

  1. Head to SSL/TLS under the Security tab or search SSL in the search bar at the top
  2. Click “Manage Sites” on the bottom right under “INSTALL AND MANAGE SSL FOR YOUR SITE (HTTPS)”
  3. On this page you will see a full overview for the SSL certificates you currently have installed. Click “Uninstall” on the domain/s you would like to uninstall the certificate for under the actions category then click “Proceed” on the confirmation pop up.
  4. Now head back to the cPanel dashboard by clicking the cPanel logo on the top right of the page. Once at the dashboard again, click “SSL/TLS Status” or search for it  in the search bar
  5. Click “Run AutoSSL”.

Once this is done your domains, provided they are pointed towards the cPanel hosting, will be covered by the free SSL certificate.
Please note, the process of running AutoSSL can take 5-10 minutes.
